Last week, AOC Key Solutions was proud to announce our nomination for a 2017 Reston Chamber of Commerce “Award for Chamber Excellence” (ACE) in the Medium Business category. Today we sat down with Dan Nathan, VP of AOC Key Solutions and an ACE nominee for “Member of the Year” to discuss the important partnership between the Reston Chamber and the GovCon community, the educational programs focused on contractors, and his fellow ACE nominees.
AOC Key Solutions: You haven’t always worked in Government contracting or lived in the Northern Virginia area. What was your background before you moved here to join AOC Key Solutions?
Dan Nathan: I worked for a few of the largest consumer products companies selling and managing accounts. I have lived in 9 different states since graduating from college and Florida was my most recent home. I will say the common denominator between industries is taking care of clients and exceeding their expectations.
AOC Key Solutions: You’re nominated for Volunteer of the Year and Member of the Year. Can you talk about some of the Reston Chamber events you feel passionately about?
Dan Nathan: I am most passionate about the GovCon Committee and the Northern Virginia B2G matchmaking and expo. Bringing together small businesses with government while having companies that can help that same small business grow faster, smarter and more cost effectively is really powerful. I really feel like my time and energy is going to something good.
AOC Key Solutions: As an active member of the GovCon committee how important do you think is the Reston Chamber of Commerce role in the government contracting community?
Dan Nathan Reston and Dulles are growing areas that are home to Government Contractors of all sizes. The Chamber is always trying to innovate and add value for the Government Contracting members through industry events like the B2G Matchmaking event and various educational series including Coffee and Contracting. I believe the Reston Chamber really understands the needs wants and desires of the GovCon community in the surrounding area.
AOC Key Solutions: AOC Key Solutions is nominated for an ACE award in the medium business category. Why do you feel it’s important for AOC Key Solutions to be an active member of the Reston Chamber? How does the Reston Chamber membership complement AOC Key Solutions and its services?
Dan Nathan: As a service provider, supporting the GovCon community is always top of mind. The bid and proposal development services we offer help companies fill any gaps they have. The Reston Chamber has a mission of education that aligns well with our staff’s desire to help companies improve their proposal processes and win.
AOC Key Solutions: Last question, do you have any shout outs to other nominees you’d like to make? Anyone whose work with the Chamber you admire and what they do?
Dan Nathan: That list is very long, but Tony Barnett, Iris Britt, Bob Rook, Jennifer Rhodes and all of the GovCon Committee. I would be remiss not to mention the Chamber staff who all do an amazing job.
